How it works

Nothing on your profile is your own word.

Three things happen, each confirmed by someone other than you. Together they make a profile that households and companies can trust, and that you control.

Step 1

Prove it is you.

Take a selfie in the app. Dojah matches it to your Ghana Card record at the National Identification Authority.

  • We keep the result of the match, never a picture of your card.
  • Your name on Backmi is the name on your Ghana Card, so a hirer knows who they are meeting.
  • The check lasts 24 months, then you renew it in a minute.

Step 2

Past employers confirm you.

Add the households and companies you worked for, with their phone numbers. Each gets a text with a link. They answer three questions in about 30 seconds, without an app or an account:

  • Did you work for them, and were the dates about right?
  • Would they hire you again?
  • What stood out: honest, punctual, good with children, careful with property…

Hirers you share with see what they said. Your referees' names and numbers stay private.

Step 3

Share it when you choose.

Your profile is closed by default. You open it, one person at a time:

  • Show your QR code, or give a six-digit PIN. It works for a day, then stops.
  • When a company asks to check you, you see who is asking and say yes or no in the app.
  • You can see every time your profile was opened.

The score

Out of 100, built only from what others confirmed.

Each badge adds points when someone other than you confirms it. Anything you only say about yourself adds nothing.

Hard to fake

A reference only counts if it is real.

Not your own number

A referee on your own phone number is refused before any text goes out.

Not from your phone

An answer sent from your own phone and network is spotted and counts for nothing.

No swapping favours

Two workers who list each other, or one number vouching for many workers, are flagged.

Verified referees weigh more

A referee who has matched their own Ghana Card on Backmi counts in full.

Real jobs, real ratings

Job history only comes from work booked on Backmi and rated by the person who hired.

Everything traceable

Every point comes from a recorded event: who confirmed what, and when.

The badges

Six things someone else has to confirm.

Self-reported claims score zero. Every badge is issued by a person or an institution other than you.
